Two bodies found at V&A pump station

The bodies of two contractors, aged 22 and 52, were found at a pump station at the V&A Waterfront last night.

The City of Cape Town’s fire and rescue services spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, said they assisted in retrieving the bodies of the two men, who were found in the sewage pit behind Table Bay Hotel, and the scene was handed over to SAPS.

Waterfront spokesperson Donald Kau said the contractors were in the course of undertaking routine maintenance work at one of its sewage pump stations.

“Emergency medical personnel and the police were immediately called onto the scene when the incident occurred and an investigation is currently under way to determine the cause of the incident.”

It was reported that Table Bay police opened an inquest docket to determine the cause of the incident.
