The Cape Town Office (CTO), a co-working space for entrepreneurs, freelancers, startups and small businesses, is hosting the second F*ckup Nights (FUN) in Cape Town, on Thursday March 9, at the CTO Club House, 46A Canterbury Street, Zonnebloem, from 6pm to 9pm.
The get-together stems from the need to share business failures which local entrepreneurs overcame and that allowed them to achieve the success that eventually followed. “We look at successful entrepreneurs and we imagine a rosy path to success; on the contrary, it has more than often taken many failures to perfect strategies and executions. FUN provides an informal playground for sharing those dear failures and supports a tremendous learning curve among business people” says Lizelle van Ryn, founder and director of CTO.
Started in Mexico in 2012, FUN is a global event in cities including New York, London, Tel Aviv and Barcelona and follows a standard format. It will be held on the second Thursday of every month.
Each evening features three to four speakers, who address the audience for approximately seven minutes, using 10 images to support the discussion. After each speaker, questions are opened to the floor, followed by a final networking session and drinks.
The second Cape Town event features three CEOs, Kean Graham, Justin R Melville and Thorsten Rauser.
Mr Graham is founder and CEO of MonetizeMore. He believes that everyone on his team should have location and time freedom, having the ability to set their own schedules and work from anywhere in the world.
Mr Melville, CEO at Ekaya.com , is a (self-taught) designer by trade, with more than 10 years specialising in brand and digital interface design.
Mr Rauser, CEO at The Binary Family, failed multiple times, with awkward ideas, and burned quite a lot of venture capital doing so. Nowadays, he runs a small development company, creating intellectual games.
