There will be a talk and poetry reading by Ukrainian poet Taras Malcovych on Saturday October 13, from 2pm until 3.30pm. There will be an open mic session followed by light refreshments afterwards. Contact Anita Shaw for more information.

There will be a playwriting course over three successive Saturdays, from October 20 until November 5. On the course, you will learn plot, character, setting and dialogue from teacher of theatre skills, Roy Sargeant. The course costs R750. For more information, email taylora@netactive.co.za
The Cape Town Central book club will meet on Wednesday October 24 above Central Library’s art library, from 1pm until 2pm. The topic is banned books. Contact Anita Shaw for more information.
The Friends of Central Library (FOCAL) Poetry Circle meets on the last Saturday of the month at the library. This month, the meeting is on Saturday October 27, from 2.30pm to 3.45pm. The guest poet will be announced nearer to the date. For more

Locally handmade and pre-packaged goods are for sale at the monthly Mayor’s Market on the concourse level of the Cape Town Civic Centre. Central library will have an information table at the market on Tuesday October 30, from 8am until noon.
Central library is open Mondays to Thursdays from 8am until 8pm; Fridays from 10am until 6pm and Saturdays from 9am until 4pm. It is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
