The fourth annual FanCon Cape Town Comic Con will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on Saturday April 27 and Sunday April 28.
International guests include legendary comic book artists Brian Stelfreeze and John Higgins, industry veterans of over four decades, who have worked on such icons as Batman, Judge Dredd, Black Panther and Watchmen; award-winning Japanese illustrator Sana Takeda, artist on the best-selling Monstress comic series; and Sam Humphries, the fan-favourite writer of Harley Quinn for DC Comics.
Cosplay guests include international superstar, Ani-Mia, and South African sensation, Kinpatsu, who will both be available for fan meet and greets, signings and will judge the cosplay competition on the final show day. Anton Kannemeyer and Conrad Botes, founders of the controversial Bitterkomix magazine, will be launching their new publication, Lag-Lag #2; while cartoonist, Zapiro will be in attendance on Sunday only.
Multiple comic book launches will be showcased in a special SA Comics Launch panel on stage.
FanCon 2019 celebrates Batman’s 80th anniversary with an exclusive Batman T-shirt, featuring the art of superstar artist, Jim Lee. As a show exclusive, the limited edition shirt will be available. A carefully curated collection of classic and vintage Batman comic books will be on exhibit on the show floor. Convention exclusives include two Avengers Infinity POP vinyl figures. These Captain America and Hawkeye Funko pop vinyls ar pop culture collectibles.
