Roadworks at the V&A Waterfront have started and will continue until Saturday November 30, when the bulk water pipeline alongside Dock Road will be upgraded.
The following closures will be in place:
Dock Road: Single Lane Use for Outbound Traffic
One lane in the outbound carriage-way will be closed to traffic. All vehicles will be diverted into the open lane while the roadworks take place.
All works will take place inside the closure. In-bound traffic onto Dock Road will be unaffected.
Pedestrians will be diverted at Ebenezer Circle using appropriate signage.
Dock Road: Single Lane Use for Inbound Traffic
From Friday November 6 until Friday November 20, one lane in the inbound carriage-way will be closed to traffic after hours (off-peak) when it will be necessary to do excavation work across the road.
All vehicles will be diverted into the open lane while the works take place and the working area will be adequately marked.
Motorists are warned to drive with care, as they will be driving over metal plate covers on a small section of the road during this period.
South Arm Road: Outbound
From Wednesday October 9 until Monday October 14, a trench will be excavated from the median towards the sidewalk in the inbound carriage-way.
One lane will be closed to traffic. All vehicles will be diverted into an open lane while the works take place. This phase will also take place after hours.
Excavations will be closed using metal plate covers to allow traffic to flow during the day.
Construction signage will mark out the work areas and flagmen will be in place at all times to direct motorists.
The Waterfront management urged motorists to make use of the faster flowing exits via Granger Bay Boulevard or Portswood Road to join the Helen Suzman Boulevard, and apologised in advance for the inconvenience caused during this time.
