Youngblood Gallery in Bree Street will host a Heritage Day concert, called Spring 50, on Sunday September 22 at 3pm. The concert is also in celebration of songwriter and pianist Ibrahim Khalil Shihab, formerly known as Chris Schilder. This year marks the 50th anniversary of his album Spring which was released in 1969. In 2018 Shihab released is second solo album (49 years later) called Essence of Spring. This album was produced by Cape jazz pianist and composer Ramon Alexander. At the concert, the Ramon Alexander Quartet will be performing the music of Ibrahim Khalil Shihab alongside special guests Ibrahim Khalil Shihab and Lionel Beukes.
