■ Cape Town Central police were awarded four certificates by the Western Cape provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Elvis Jula. The station was awarded for the highest volume of overall reduction in crime; total arrests and volume of cases to court. Lieutenant General Jula said the station showed initiative with proper planning, focus on crime hotspots; multi-disciplinary operations; strong partnerships with the community police forum (CPF), the neighbourhood watches, security companies and other law enforcement agencies.
