The 2018 Cape Town Summer Market will take place from Wednesday December 19 to Sunday December 23 in the Company’s Garden.
The market offers a range of fun activities that will keep everyone entertained and will be open to the public between 6pm and 11pm on each day.
Mayoral committee member for area north, Grant Twigg, said; “The zones that cater for a broad range of interests and ages have proven to be very popular and will be a feature again this year. This format works well for a family-oriented event. This year sees many new additions, including a revamped kids’ zone with carnival-style rides and fun area, more food trucks and even a ladies’ spa and wellness zone that will give families the opportunity to relax and enjoy quality time together.”
There is also a competition to showcase home-grown talent.
Auditions are currently under way and those who qualify for the next round will compete live on stage at the summer market. On the final night of the event’s Summer Song Contest, the top three contestants will compete for the prize and hometown glory.
The winner will walk away with R30 000 worth of prizes.
Last-minute shoppers will have the opportunity to shop along Government Avenue and find a gift from one of the stalls that will have a variety of products on offer.
Mr Twigg said, “I believe we have a winning formula for the Cape Town Summer Market. Looking back at last year’s numbers, we are confident that this year’s event will once again be popular. While residents are out and about, they should not forget to stop over in Adderley Street to admire the stunning festive lights as well.”
