Roadworks to commence in Waterkant Street

The work is scheduled to take place from Wednesday September 16 to Friday October 2.
The City of Cape Town’s Transport Directorate will commence with roadworks in Waterkant Street from the corner of Waterkant and Long Streets.

The work is scheduled to take place from Wednesday September 16 to Friday October 2.

Collapsed paving will be repaired along this road.

The work will be implemented from 7am until 5pm on weekdays.

All road users will be affected, and traffic flow will be impacted in both directions.

Mayoral committee member for transport, Felicity Purchase, said: “The City’s road network is one of our biggest assets and regular road maintenance is key in ensuring the longevity of our infrastructure – be it the roads itself, or stormwater infrastructure or sidewalks. I understand that these works, as with other roadworks, will bring a level of inconvenience to the businesses and road users in this area, however, when completed, it will be aesthetically pleasing and safe for pedestrians.”

No congestion is expected in the area, but the City recommends that road users consider making use of alternative routes as far as possible.
