Pending power outage due to work on sub-station

The electricity supply in the Strand Street Concourse and the surrounding area will be cut.

The electricity supply in the Strand Street Concourse and the surrounding area will be cut for over 10 hours on Sunday July 31 due to urgent electrical equipment upgrades by the City of Cape Town.

According to a statement by the Central City Improvement District (CCID), work will be done on the concourse sub-station between 5am and 7pm.

Areas affected include St George’s Mall, and Strand, Adderley, Hout, Burg, Castle, Long and Waterkant streets.

The City urged members of the public to treat power installations as “live” for the full period of the interruption as electricity may be restored at any time and without warning.
