Keeping the homeless warm

City centre-based organisation, Women of Hope, held a blanket drive at Castello’s on the corner of Keerom and Leeuwen
streets on Friday June 22.

Estelle Woodman of Women of Hope said they were aiming to collect 1 000 blankets to keep homeless people warm.

“It is difficult for the homeless in winter. They get cold because their blankets are either stolen or taken away, orget wet in the rain. We would like as many people to help us by donating blankets or donating to the cause,” she said.

The chairperson of the organisation, Munebah Derry said the Women of Hope tried to make a difference, by feeding the needy and assisting those who don’t have families or homes.

“It’s not always easy. Many need to keep warm this winter but we don’t always get the support we need. We want to appeal to people to assist us to make a difference.”
