Eight minors were taken into protective custody on Friday November 30 after they were found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs around the Grand Parade.
Law enforcement officers were called out to attend to a complaint of public unruliness at the Castle.
On arrival, the officers found that the situation had shifted from the Castle, where a musician had performed, to the Grand Parade.
Students between the ages of 13 and 18 had swamped the Parade consuming alcohol and drugs. One teenager was found wandering alone and highly intoxicated.
The girl was so inebriated she could not maintain her balance while standing.
Female officers assisted the girl before contacting her family.
Another girl was taken to Somerset Hospital after she was found unconscious on the Parade.
Law enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason said, “Parents are urged to be aware of these types of risks their children may be exposed to.”
