The Hawks have arrested Naeem Harris, 21, in connection with a shooting that took place outside Coco Bar in Loop Street in May.
A DJ and a patron were shot and wounded just after midnight on Thursday May 5.
The incident is reportedly linked to an apparent ongoing club security turf war in Cape Town and surrounding areas.
Mr Harris was arrested on Thursday August 30 and appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday September 4, where the matter was postponed to Monday September 11 for further investigation. He will stay in custody.
Cape Town Central police arrested eight people for drug-related incidents in the vicinity of Long, Loop, Adderley and Strand streets since the beginning of September.
Cape Town Central police spokesman, Captain Ezra October, said police had also noticed an increase in theft out of motor vehicles, robberies and armed robberies since the beginning of September near Adderley, Wale, Strand, Bree, Loop, Long, Queen Victoria and Riebeeck streets.
He said hot spots for theft out of motor vehicles and robbery include Old Marine Drive, Sir Lowry, Primrose, Breda and Mill streets.
Over the past two weeks, The Morpho Eva electronic fingerprint device identified several suspects wanted around the city for crimes, including aggravated robbery, housebreaking, theft, possession of drugs and contempt of court.
Out of 190 people profiled, 14 were wanted suspects, he told the CapeTowner.
