Worldart Gallery in Church Street will host two exhibitions during July, both running from Thursday July 6 until Thursday July 27. Johannesburg-based artist Fringe will hold his first solo exhibition in Cape Town. His graffiti-inspired mixed media works have proven to be popular in Johannesburg as people relate to his interpretation of a world that seems to be more obsessed with the wrong things than ever before. Also on display will be a collection of skateboards, painted by local artists and curated by Kent Lingeveldt from Alpha Longboards. The list of artists includes ICE7, one of the pioneers of street art in Cape Town, and Kilmany-Jo Liversage, whose street art inspired portraits are collected world-wide. The other artists are Dion Cupido, Ello, Conform, Atang Tshikare and Kaylin Carollisen. Alpha Longboards was started in Woodstock, Cape Town, in 2001. These two exhibitions will open as part of the First Thursdays initiative on July 6, where galleries are open till 9pm.
