Trio to perform at CBD gallery

All-female electric cello trio Rosathorn will perform at the Youngblood Gallery in Bree Street on Wednesday May 17 at 6.30pm. The trio, pictured from left, Dorette Roos of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra; Carol Thorns of the Electric Cello Pioneer and a SAMA Nominee; and Anjulie Nock, a cellist and composer, launched their first self- titled six track EP this month.Their repertoire includes recordings and re-interpretations of works as varied as Vivaldi’s Double Concerto in G Minor, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, and Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek. Anjulie Nock has composed new works such as Night Journey (with a stirring Game of Thrones feel) and an original Tango for Cello. The Parting, by Helmut Meijer, is a reflective, stripped-down, soulful composition which inspired their first music video.
Tickets cost R120 pre-booked, and R150 at the door. For bookings, call 087 8065856 or email info@foodlab.co.za
