■ Mthwakazi, a Xhosa Opera singer and songwriter will perform at the SA Sendinggestig Museum, Slave Church, 40 Long Street, on Friday December 9, at 7.30pm. Mthwakazi has pioneered a new style of music known as Xho-pera which synthesises African Indigenous bow music, classical, opera and choral music. Her repertoire is mainly derived from Xhosa bow music and is firmly entrenched in African dance rhythms. The music explores African culture and heritage and promotes the use of the Xhosa language.Tickets cost R100 at the door or R70 for students and seniors.
