The Maranatha Male Choir will be celebrating its 50th anniversary at the Artscape Theatre on Sunday October 2, at 4pm. Choirs on the bill include the Maranatha Male Choir, the South African Youth Choir, the Kensington Choral, the Church of the Resurrection Aglican Church Choir, Harmonaires Quartet (Male Quartet), Garth Delport (baritone soloist), Fantastic Trio (instrumentalist), Colin Hopley (trumpet soloist) and the Perseverance Christmas Band.
The vision of the choir at its half-centenary celebration is to awaken new energy and an interest in quality singing and music and to inspire the church and community to spiritual renewal.
This event aims to proclaim and celebrate the Maranatha story through musical performances by a range of artists from various communities in Cape Town. The choir regularly performs at worship services, song festivals, birthdays and special occasions. They are currently working on a CD that is scheduled to be released during the festival year. Since its inception in 1966, the Maranatha Male Choir has promoted song and music with male voices, while raising money for charitable institutions and causes. Tickets are available from Computicket or Artscape Dial-A-Seat on 021 421 7695.
