Lyrics Still Matter, a show where vocal artists share their diversity through singing, will take place at the Artscape Arena on Friday May 24, at 7.30pm, and Saturday May 25, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. The production stars a group of artists from different disciplines who share how music and lyrics have shaped their experiences of growing up in the diverse city of Cape Town, and how their art was influenced as a result. Music includes jazz, hip hop, RnB and house music as Jerome Rex (2019 Ghoema award-winning rapper) Nadine Matthews (singer-songwriter) and IV Beats (DJ and music producer) tell their stories. The production is backed by a four-piece band and scratch DJ, and features appearances by saxophonist Lee Hoffmann and flamenco dancer Demi-Lee Johnson.
