The production Keeper of Kumm will be staged at the Atscape Theatre until Sunday July 31. Written by the award-winning writer, filmmaker and journalist, Sylvia Vollenhoven, the play is the story of a battle-hardened, 21st century journalist who has to journey with her 19th century ancestor in a search for who she really is. Directed by Basil Appollis, with original music by Hilton Schilder and choreography by Alfred Hinkel along with dancers from Namibia, the dance drama tells the story of how, for years, Elizabeth “Betjie” Petersen (played by Quanita Adams, pictured right) used journalism to expose the evil that was apartheid. Now, she reluctantly responds to the call from a 19th century visionary, Kabbo (played by Elton Landrew, pictured left), to explore the almost forgotten world of her ancestors. Tickets cost R100 or R70 for pensioners and pupils 18 years old and younger. Book through Computicket or by calling Artscape Dial-a-Seat at 021 421 7695. For more information, visit www.artscape.co.za
