The third annual FanCon takes place on Saturday April 28 and Sunday April 29 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Established in 2016, visitors to the FanCon can look forward to international comic book artists, Declan Shalvey, Yanick Paquette, Ken Lashley, Laura Braga, and Ulysse Malassagne who will participate in fan meet and greets, signing and drawing sessions, and attendees will be able to purchase and commission artwork directly from them.

Riki (Riddle) Lecotey is the show’s featured cosplay guest, who will also be on the judging team for the cosplay competition while South African cartoonist Zapiro will have an exhibition stand, host a cartoon workshop, and participate in signing sessions.

Team Kwezi, the full creative team behind South Africa’s superhero, Kwezi, will also be in attendance and 10 independently published local comic books will be launched.

An artist alley will feature over 50 local artists, and a mini exhibit of original Action Comics issues through the decades. There will also be a cosplay masquerade and competition, panel programme, geek quizzes, a board gaming zone for free gaming and demonstrations and stage performances.

The FanCon will run on Saturday April 28 from 10am until 7pm, and on Sunday from 10am to 6pm at the CTICC 2 at Hall 8 and 9. Tickets cost R150 for Saturday and R130 for Sunday.
