The Istituto Italiano di Cultura in collaboration with Camerata Tinta Barocca will present a concert by Italian ensemble I Bassifondi on Wednesday November 20 at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, De Waterkant, at 8pm. I Bassifondi is a period ensemble performing music for lute, archlute, theorbo and baroque guitar with continuo. The programme for the concert evokes the musical life of 17th century Rome in all its aspects: from the street, where the storytellers improvised simple dances, to the oratorio, where people gathered to hear the sacrae historiae, to the refined performances at the Palazzo Barberini. Tickets cost R160 and R140 for concessions. Book through Webtickets or Pick ‘n Pay stores. Email or visit for more information.
