Braide returns to SA

Guest conductor Daniel Boico.

British pianist Sodi Braide will return to Cape Town after more than 20 years to perform the Mozart Piano Concerto no 24 with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in the third concert of the Winter Symphony season.

The concert will take place on Thursday June 20, at the Cape Town City Hall, at 8pm.

On the podium will be Daniel Boico, who will also conduct the CPO in the Capriccio
espagnol by Rimsky-Korsakov and the Symphony no 1 by Kalinnikov.

Sodi Braide studied music in Nigeria, France and Madrid before being granted residency at the prestigious Lake Como Piano Foundation in Switzerland. He soon established an international career that sees him in performance around the world. His first tour of South Africa was in 1994, two years before he won a prize in the UNISA International Piano Competition.

Associate guest conductor of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, Daniel Boico, has just been appointed music director of the MAV Orchestra in Budapest. He was a finalist and prizewinner at the Prokofiev, Pedrotti, and Cadaques International Conducting competitions. Boico recorded Kalinnikov’s
Symphony No. 1 with the Nurnberger Symphoniker for Bavarian Radio.

Tickets cost between R135 and R350, and entitles concertgoers to attend, free of charge, the pre-concert talk at the City Hall at 7.15pm.
