Woman Zone invites you to walk, talk, sew and tune into the Artscape Women’s Humanity Arts Festival, which will run from Saturday August 5 until Wednesday August 9.
South African Faith and Family Institute (SAFFI) and Woman Zone will partner with Artscape to start the annual Women’s Humanity Walk on Wednesday August 9 at St George’s Cathedral, from 9am, proceeding down to the Artscape Theatre.
The theme this year is: Uniting Cape Town Against Gender Based Violence which means men and children are welcome to join the walk with banners and placards. Guest speakers and multi-denominational faith leaders’ blessings will precede the walk which sets off at 9.30am.
Woman Zone’s Story Cafe and panel discussion on women and their books will take place on Tuesday August 8, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, at the Woman Zone’s library situated on the ground floor of the Artscape.
Maxine Case will talk about her new book, Softness of the Lime and Thobeka Yose will talk about her self-published book, In silence.
Author of An A to Z of Amazing South African Women, Ambre Nicolson and her publisher Colleen Higgs of Modjaji books will also form part of the talks.
Women are invited to take part in The Everywoman Project on Saturday August 5, from 10am until 4pm, in the Chandelier Foyer at the Artscape. Women will make shweshwe “yoyos” with the goal of turning them into one big textile artwork that will eventually be on display at Artscape.
